KING AIR - BLACKHAWK MODIFICATIONS, INC.
MCA Aviation are a Blackhawk European distributor and Raisbeck Performance System dealer, I am frequently asked what these conversions are and what are the benefits? Put quite simply - it is an engine performance upgrade which is available for the King Air 90 and 200 series, Conquest and Cheyenne, using today's advancements in engine technology in your current aircraft!.
The majority of engines in service today date back to the 1970's, at that time they too were using advancements in engine technology bringing performance, reliability and economy into the turboprop world. Over the past fifteen years or so, technological advances in engine designs including the availability of technologically advanced engine manufacturing materials and processes meaning that more performance is available from the existing design. The net result is that engines nowadays can run with a higher Inter Turbine Temperature (ITT) without affecting reliability and have larger and sometimes more effective compressor sections for example; At FL260 the PT6A-52 engine produces 195 more SHP than the -42 engine.
Blackhawk Modifications Inc. through their distributor network bring existing and potential owners/operators the opportunity of a simple 'bolt on' upgrade, exchanging existing engines with factory new engines that require no airframe modification. Take for instance the Blackhawk King Air B200™ - upgrade benefits include; Increased cruise speed to over 300 Knots + with maximum cruise speeds in access of 310 Knots, Increased rate of climb, Shorter take off and landing distances, Increased single engine service ceiling, Decreased time and fuel to climb, Increased overall range, New engine warranty of 5 years or 2500 hours.
Coupled with a Raisbeck EPIC Performance Package - the results are truly astonishing!, The cost of these new engines with increased performance is very close to and in some cases less than overhauls! I would also mention that the efficiency of the turbo-prop in Europe with the ever increasing high cost of fuel, altitude limitations in European airspace, high passenger carrying capability at near jet speeds, and a low carbon footprint, make a Blackhawk King Air the smartest and most logical choice for European operators.
So what about the small print?.......there isn't any - however, due to the high demand for the upgrade I would advise you to reserve a set in advance. Blackhawk offer a generous core credit and even if your engines are a long way off from overhaul it's certainly worth considering through cost savings in the longer term.
